The future of Medium is terribly interesting to me, not just because I am deeply invested (this platform is almost completely responsible for my total impact), but because it’s could set a precedent for how any media site on the web does business.
Ev Williams has stated ad-driven media is a problem, and so he seems hell bent on keeping away the click bait in order to preserve the vision of Medium.
So what do they do? We assume there’s a premium content channel in the pipeline, but what will be produced here which can’t be found elsewhere? Will Medium be driven, in part, by the good will of people who want to see this platform go forward? If that’s the case, when does good will get more expensive than it is worth? Also, how many questions can I ask in a row?
All this circular wondering is to say — Bill, it’s a good thought to consider a partnership between Medium and Amazon. Will it happen? Will they figure out how to make money?
We shall see.
