Medium is a newspaper. A new issue comes out every day. The best story goes on the front page. Is it a story about politics, sports, or health? It depends on what readers are thinking and caring about at large. Is it more complicated than that? Sure. But also, not really.
Curation doesn’t matter as much as it seems. Most topics are niche until an event causes people to start caring. See: public health in 2020.
Talk to people. Study what matters to you. Write something that is actually worth reading. Leave the code to the programmers.
