To me it’s all about critical thinking.
Being good with computers does not necessarily indicate intelligence. Being able to apply computer knowledge to a situation you’ve never seen before — now that’s what I’m talking about.
To me, creativity is just coming up with a new solution, connecting new patterns whether it’s in art or music or ice cream or IT or finance. The one common thread they all have is critical thinking — how can I make something that wasn’t there before.
For the record, I do agree with your thoughts on schooling and the arts. Music and painting (even if you are terrible at them both) enable a part of your brain which isn’t active otherwise. Maybe it’s the abstract/subjective nature of it all, I don’t know.
