Why Politicians Are Hard to Trust

First, think about how marketing has changed in the last 50 years. Ads once explained products. Now they spew superlatives.

  • Mercedes-Benz: The Best or Nothing
  • Disney World: The Happiest Place on Earth
  • Maxwell House: Good to the Last Drop

Politicians caught on. This is why Pence said in last night’s debate: “you can expect the biggest economic performance in history in 2021.”

Your brain adapts to this stuff. That’s why trust in both government and advertisers is in the toilet. And remember, neither of these groups has a goal of informing you. They want your vote/money.

You have to inform yourself.
